Description

Bone Folder – 160 mm

A bone folder is an essential hand tool for archival box making, bookbinding, paper conservation and general craft work. It is used to create clean, accurate creases in paper and board, helping folds form neatly without damaging, tearing or marking the surface.

This 160 mm bone folder has two differently shaped ends for greater versatility. The pointed end is suitable for defining precise creases, working into corners and guiding detailed folds, while the rounded end can be used to smooth, press and shape larger folded areas.

Bone folders are particularly useful when assembling archival boxes supplied flat-packed. Running the tool firmly along pre-cut crease lines helps prepare the board for folding, producing sharper edges and making locking tabs easier to position. It can also be used to flatten folded paper, reinforce bookbinding joints and gently manipulate paper or lightweight board during conservation and mounting work.

Its smooth surface allows controlled pressure to be applied without leaving the scratches or impressions that can be caused by metal tools.
