The Abbey pH Pen™ is a quick and reliable tool for identifying acidic paper. Using chlorophenol red as the pH indicator, it delivers a consistent colour response regardless of ink concentration—ensuring accurate and dependable results every time.

To test, simply mark a small, inconspicuous area of the paper:

• Pale yellow indicates acidity

• Pale purple indicates neutral or alkaline paper

• Tan suggests intermediate acidity

Designed for conservation professionals, each pen features a felt tip, grey barrel, and purple cap, with a light mark for discreet testing.
