Monaghan County Museum – New Peace Campus

50 Years in the Making

When the Past becomes the Present

Just about 40 years ago Aidan Walsh, the first curator at Monaghan County Museum, engaged our very own Patrick to make a scale model of a Crannog. Little did he or Patrick know then what was starting. That model has been on display ever since, first at the Museum in its premises on Hill Street, and now one of the first displays you see at the Peace Campus. Connecting past milestones to our present day business, the model Crannog is housed in one of our very own show cases.

The past really has caught up with us, and become our present.

This case was one of 37 cases that we designed, manufactured, and installed for Monaghan County Museum. We worked closely with Liam Bradley (Curator) over the two year planning and building stages of the museum. He was very clear with his brief, and we were able to provide cases to match the unique specifications required. We were also able to advise on a few design elements to ensure a uniform look throughout the museum, whilst offering accessibility for all visitors.

As well as the design and supply of the showcases, some objects required bespoke solutions for display. The pistol display was a particularly interesting, fitting and securing each one separately and ensuring that the guns were visible from all sides, whilst creating an eye catching display that did not feel threatening to the visitor.

We were absolutely elated to be able to work on the redevelopment of the museum that planted the seed for this business, 20 years after returning to Monaghan, and 40 years after it all started. It has been a true honour and pure joy to see this from conception to opening – and on into the future!

If you haven’t yet been to visit, please make sure you do. It is well worth it.
