True Conservation Framing to Museum Standard
Conservation and Museum Framing are the creation of a storage container that allows you to view its contents, whilst retaining the original integrity of the piece within. At Darac we pride ourselves on working to “Museum Standards”. This means we use the best available materials and techniques throughout our museum quality framing.
Conservation & Object Framing
As Ireland’s only specialist conservation picture framers with museum training, we offer a complete framing service, from full museum to conservation level. With our unrivalled portfolio of frames and mouldings we are able to give experienced, objective and unpretentious advice making recommendations that work within specified budgets.
The diversity of our clients and the work framed, together with years of continuous professional development has contributed to our in-depth knowledge of framing solutions for all mediums.
All work is carried out to best practice using only Museum Standard materials by Master Picture Framers with museum training.
Acid Free
Only acid and lignin free, bleed and fade resistant materials are used when attaching and mounting work. All work carried out is completely reversible. We can work directly with conservators to ensure continuity of care for newly conserved pieces.
When appropriate Darac is never shy about introducing colour into conservation framing with our range of solid colour natural pigment mounting matts.
Where possible we use FSC wood, and recyclable boards.
Our aim is to provide long term preservation of artwork through remedial treatment, preventive measures and by advising on the surroundings and storage environments.
3D Object Framing
Thanks to our unique background as both museum professionals and master picture framers, as well as having access to the best the industry has to offer in terms of conservation and archival materials, we are confident in taking on the mounting and framing of 3D objects. Using only conservation appropriate materials, and innovative techniques, we have tackled even the most astonishing of collections.
With over 30 years’ experience of working with 3D objects, there are very few shapes and sizes that we have not found solutions for. From a set of miniature hand painted glass cufflinks, to a full set of antique silver and mother of pearl cutlery – we have always used both skill and creativity to provide a finished display that simply wows.
Sports Framing to Conservation Standard
When framing sporting memorabilia, we only use conservation grade materials. Unless absolutely necessary or requested we do not fold or cover any part.
Computerised design and cutting gives infinite possibilities. Shirts and Jerseys are mounted and set back into our specially designed box frame allowing it room to hang.
We never use glue to attach.
Only acid and lignin free, bleed and fade resistant materials are used when attaching and mounting work.
